What is the standard screen resolution on which Live Publications should be viewed?

Minimum requirement for the best experience of viewing Live Publications is 1024 x 768 pixels. However, Live Publications can also be viewed on higher resolutions.

Does Live Publications automatically adjust screen resolution?

Screen resolution has to be adjusted manually by the user.

Does Live Publications detect screen resolution and can it give a message saying that screen size should be adjusted?

A message can be displayed. However, at this point Live Publications does not display 'adjust screen size' message.

Can you click and hold the mouse button down to move a page like in PDF and/or enable the scroll button on the mouse?

Yes you can drag the page by clicking on the page and dragging it upwards or downwards. However, you can also use the built-in scroll bars. By default Live Publications zooms the area where you clicked.

Do we require any downloads to view Live Publications?

For an exe version of Live Publications there are no downloads or external tools required. However, for a web version of Live Publications the only thing required is the flash player, which is available on most PCs today.

Which Flash version is compatible for Live Publications conversions?

Latest Flash Player is required for proper functioning of Live Publications. Live Publications can be viewed with older versions but some options of Live Publications do not work properly.

Do you currently display a message if flash version is not available or compatible?

A message can be displayed. Currently we do not display any message.

Can the background (explorer frame) expand to fit the whole screen?

Web based Live Publications uses the settings of Internet Explorer. Live Publications is optimized for a 1024 X 768 monitor resolution. Live Publications cannot be compressed, however, it can expanded more than this size. But keep in mind if the resolution of a PC is set at above 1024 X 768 resolution, the remaining blank area will automatically expand to fit Live Publications on a full screen. Please see the figure for a clearer understanding.

What is the maximum size of a page which can be opened within the Live Publications interface?

Live Publications page size depends on the size of the PDF page. By default Live Publications displays 50% at zoom out and 150% zoom in state.

If the page is small why can't you make it bigger?

Making pages bigger requires us to forego the look and feel of the Live Publications format. Bigger pages mean that we have to alter the documents and set sizes accordingly. This might result in stretching of images and alignment problems.

Can we have live links embedded?

Yes, you can have links to other sites or locations embedded within Live Publications.

Is there any limit for adding links?

No, there is no limit for embedding hyperlinks into Live Publications.

Is redirection of dead links possible to other links?

Live Publications can only direct a hyperlink to one location. That location has to have a redirecting service.

How does one return to the Live Publications application after clicking on a link?

The link will open in a new window with Live Publications remaining visible in the background. Once the user closes the window displaying a link, Live Publications will automatically come into view. Live Publications will also be displayed on the status bar of a computer.

Can we integrate rich media elements in Live Publications?

Yes, you can insert rich media files in Live Publications. Basic type of media files that Live Publications supports are Videos, Music, Audio Readings, Animated Flash Ads and Interactive Forms.

What media formats are compatible with Live Publications?

We can integrate the following types of media into Live Publications:

Flash Videos
Flash Animations
Videos in Quick Time, MPG or AVI format
Sound (mP3 and WAV format)

What are the technical specs for video files?

The file size will have to be reduced using compressions so that it runs smoothly and effectively in Live Publications. AVI, MPG and MOV formats are acceptable as input. Output will be in Flash format.

Can we print in Live Publications?

Yes, Live Publications offers printing facility.

What are the restrictions on printing in Live Publications?

Live Publications offers the following print facility on its exe version:

Single page print
Multiple page print (range printing)
Entire document print

However, in its web version the user can only print a single page or two pages at a time.

What is the minimum internet connection recommended for viewing Live Publications?

We recommend a cable or DSL connection for best results especially for larger file. A 56 K modem will work but might result in slower loading.

What are the inputs required to make a Live Publications format document?

We ideally require a Print Ready PDF with high-resolution images (if any) as input. We also require PC based fonts, which have been used in the PDF file. The quality of Live Publications is directly linked to the quality of the PDF and availability of fonts.

For ads and inserts what is the minimum resolution of the required images?

Up to 300 dpi or minimum 150 dpi. However, if the ad or insert contains a section which is not clearly visible (for example very small sized text), the quality of output might suffer.

What is the size of the converted file? (Give a rough approximation?)

The size is completely dependent on the number of pages and the content type of the file. A standard Live Publications (details given at the end) will come to approximately 2MB.

What is the difference between exe and web ready files?

The web ready format is strictly available for viewing on the web. The EXE format is portable and can be downloaded and viewed from the desktop. It will not work on the web.

What versions of Explorer are required to view Live Publications?

Internet Explorer 6.0 or above is required for viewing the standard version of a Live Publications document. However, Live Publications are compatible with most commonly used web browsers

What is the minimum conversion time?

Time required for a conversion ranges from overnight to 3 days for a simple version of Live Publications depending on size and complexity. For Live Publications with added features such as hyperlink embedding and media insertions, the conversion time might increase.
